Hello, Chloe again. I know I posted the other day but I simply needed to get this of my chest-)
If you're in year 10 or 11, or even in college or university you would understand the stress of an exam:( I'm in my 3rd/4th week of being back at school and already I've had to sit an controlled assessment worth 7.5% of my final grade:| I didn't take it very well:(
My experience!
I am in top set English and my English teacher thought it would be a good idea to give us one of out controlled assessment. We had 4 lessons to plan it out. We had no idea when we are going to do it. As i want to go to college and do my A Levels, I put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve the best grades possible.
During the assessment I went blank, my pen stopped and I frozen. I looked around and everyone had there heads down and seemed like they knew what they were doing. My friend looked at me and my eyes started filling up:/. Scared and panicking I walked out the room! Worst decision ever! I ended up crying until one of my head of years came and calmed me down. I explained to her how I'm putting to put pressure on myself and I couldn't cope with it. She spoke to my English teacher and told her I'm not coping particularly well and guess what? My English teacher was so supportive. Now I'm in the middle of re-writing my final piece. I'm heading in the direction of getting a B or A:)
How to cope!
Normally teachers will tell you to take a few minutes for yourself to calm down. Mine did:)
I find it best if you think about something else for a second or two to refresh you're mind. Also I tend to mess around with something for a few seconds like a ruler for example.
I managed to focus and try really hard. I hope everyone that is sitting there exams manages to get the grades they deserve-)
